Resumen
La adquisición de la lengua de signos, lenguaje natural de las personas sordas, conlleva la distinción de diferentes aspectos de dicha lengua. En este artículo se examinan las características lingüísticas más relevantes de la lengua de signos: iconicidad y arbitrariedad y las condiciones de simetría y dominancia, presentando ejemplos en Lenguaje de Signos Chileno. Se presentan estudios sobre la adquisición de los primeros signos en bebés sordos, la evolución de los parámetros formativos (configuración, movimiento, ubicación y orientación) y la aparición de la dactilología.

Abstract
Sign language acquisition by deaf people implies the development of different linguistic aspects. In this paper the most relevant linguistic characteristics of sign language are discussed. These characteristics are iconicity, arbitrariness and the conditions of symmetry and dominance. Examples in Chilean Sign Language are also included. Studies on the acquisition of the first signs in the deaf babies, the evolution of the parameters formational (configuration, movement, location and orientation) and the appearance of the fingerspelling are reviewed.
